Success for St Andrews Photographic Society at the Annual SPF Portfolio Competition

Huge congratulations to the members of St Andrews Photographic Society on winning the BEST COLOUR CLUB – THE HENRY COATES TROPHY in this years Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF) Annual Portfolio competition.

The three Judges for 2019 were – Christine Widdall from L&CPU, Richard Speirs from NCPF and Dave Symonds from the SPF. A total of 1432 Prints and Projected Images were received; made up of 668 PDI, 446 Colour Prints and 318 Mono Prints from 30 clubs throughout Scotland.

St Andrews PS was awarded first place with a total of 56/60 points beating some of the biggest clubs in the Scottish competition circuit.

The 4 colour print images selected by St Andrews PS to represent the club were “Stormbound” by Alison Smith, “A Raven’s Passing” by Stan Farrow, “Giraffes in a Sandstorm” by Chris Reekie and “Survival” by Stan Farrow.

As well as winning the club trophy St Andrews PS member Stan Farrow won an award for the BEST CREATIVE PRINT with “A Raven’s Passing” and Chris Reekie won a trio of awards – BEST NATURE PRINT with “Giraffes in a Sandstorm”, BEST LANDSCAPE with “Snow Fence” and DAVID SYMOND’S JUDGES CHOICE with “Spring Morning Mist”.

A fantastic result for all concerned. Well done.

St Andrews Photographic Society meets every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm from mid September until the end of March at the Art Club Rooms, 14c Argyle Street, St Andrews. New members are always welcome.
