What do the outrageous American rock star Marylin Manson and our own more staid Prince William have in common?

The answer is they have both had their photographs taken and published by our latest speaker the entertaining Tom Haresign from Largo.  Commercial Photography was the title of his talk. Originally from Doncaster where he trained and worked as a hairdresser but with a love of photography he left to travel Europe. Upon his return he decided that he would have to take his hobby to another level so he applied for a photography course at a college in Edinburgh. When finished he blagged his way into becoming an official Press Photographer with the Evening News.

In his own inimitable and hilarious style he explained to an enthusiastic audience how the world of commercial photography works. Keeping ownership of your portfolios but selling them for the right deal is the only way to make money in this cut throat world. Using the experience gained as a press photographer he covered large and intimate live music events, motorbike racing meets, and cycling races having his  pictures published in appropriate magazines and newspapers around the world.

Although he plies his original trade as a barber from his shop in Anstruther his love of commercial photography is not diminished. His latest success was to have one of his images of a male models hair style appear on the front cover of an International Hairdressers magazine. This informative talk filled with hilarity ended all too soon and the appreciative audience warmly thanked Tom for his visit.
