Professional photographer Niall Irvine from Aberdeenshire was our guest speaker this evening. He was instrumental in setting up “The Scottish Nature Photography Awards” in 2007 and establishing it in 2009 as an annual event. The competition now attracts thousands of entries each year and has expanded into eleven separate categories. He talked us through each years winning entries up to 2019 with his informative critiques on why each picture was successful that year. As expected the winners were of stunning quality. Niall’s committee organised a competition for 2020 to allow the public to vote for their Favourite Scottish Nature Photographs which were published in a book. The competition for 2021 opens in September. After a lively discussion the night ended on a cheerful note with a heart felt round of applause from the audience.
