Speaker – Neil Barr From There to Here
“From There to Here” was the title of the presentation made to members on the 19th February when award winning landscape photographer Neil Barr provided members with an extensive look at his work from the last six years spent exploring and photographing the Scottish Landscape.
Having only taken up landscape photography in 2014 as an extension of his exploration of the Scottish Landscape an activity he pursued as a method of recovery from health problems he had experienced. His success in his chosen field has resulted in a portfolio running to hundreds of stunning images.
His study as a Fine Art Printmaker in Aberdeen following his upbringing in Argyle has stood him in good stead for the career he has now developed as a result of his success. The past six years of photography has brought him many honourable mentions for his work submitted for International Photography Awards in addition to success for his images submitted to a range of different competitions.
Winner of both the Iconic Scotland photography competition and the Scotland Magazine Photography challenge competitions in 2015, receiving honourable mentions and commendations in a number of competitions in 2016 and 2017, highly commended for his Portfolio in Scottish Landscape Photographer of the year 2018. He won the RS Richard Foundation Fellowship for study Abroad.

Prior to commencement of his presentation club President Nicola Shepherd was presented with an SPF Silver medal won recently for her work in the SPF Scottish Print Championship. A further recent success was taking first place in the Three Way competition between the St. Andrews Society and the Photographic clubs of Cupar and Kinross.
